Rainbow Mitts

Galerie

These mitts have been designed to use hand dyed yarn. They use around 2 to 3 grams of yarn for each finger.

First you knit each finger individually. Then, step by step, you add each finger to the mitts. They are knitted from the fingers to the wrist.

This design is knitted in the round, using the magic loop technique. You can of course adapt it to use double pointed needles or two circulars.

Yarn
10 mini skeins with different colors. I used Renaissance Dyeing Bluefaced leicester, but any fingering yarn will do.
1 skein of fingering grey yarn. I used Filcolana Arwetta Classic, but any fingering yarn will do.

Gauge
3 stitches for 1 cm wide
9 rounds for 2 cm high
I recommend that you do your swatch in round for more accuracy.

teinture-35

Spotted this pattern in The Knitter magazine and made them for a Christmas present for a friend. The yarn is gorgeous to knit with and fabulous colours. I loved the top down structure of this glove – great fun and a new approach for me.
